A scenario pitting our individual, non-linear, bereavement processes/self-reflections/rituals and values against an unsympathetically governed transaction requiring an issued permit with a deadline for mourning.

[INSPECTOR] (Lead - Shoots 1 day) Mid 20s – 70s. Male or female. Self-important, chip-on-their-shoulder, overt narcissist whose authoritative bluster masks poor self-esteem. Hired security monitor (think mall cop) patrolling a beach policing mourners and inspecting that each has a permit to grieve. Enforcing that the bereaved strictly adhere to their allotted time to grieve. Lacks empathy—as is typical of a narcissist. Devaluing others their sport, and sustenance. Actor has an on-camera physical wrangle, and an urn tug-of-war on the sand with the actor portraying DOUGLAS. Seeking an actor skillful with playing pompous, selfinvolved humor and self-depreciating comedic wit that isn’t self-aware...

[YOUNG PERSON] (Lead - Shoots 1 day) 8 to 11 years. BIPOC (non-caucasion). Female. Must be authentic in personality, spirit, age, and heart—i.e. not an automaton child performer. Lives in the moment. Self-reliant. Gracious, charming, and friendly. Unvarnished vocabulary. Honest. Despite mourning their mother, maintains an optimism and wonder.
